Don't read the MSM lips, no new election over RCMP raids

The destination as to where the RCMP "raid" on Conservative HQ is going to go remains somewhat uncertain, but I still stand certain that it won't help the Conservatives the longer it stays in the press. That being said, people are asking questions and some are good pertaining to the legitimacy of this whole thing. The mainstream media on the other hand seems to be spinning this for reasons other than giving the news. It probably isn't much of a secret that elections and election speculation are good times to work in the news industry because news coverage is more closely followed. Any trouble for a minority federal government is good news because it makes for a slightly larger audience, and thus a sales spike, when you work in the MSM.

But the Liberals can't call an election over this and the MSM knows it. Stephane Dion and company have blown their odds, so Canadians will just have to settle for the Stephen Harper government that focuses on policy and proper governance. Still a good time to be a Canadian, but a bad time to be on "election watch" in the press. Back to your other desk jobs, folks. I think there's some toner that needs refilling.

First of all, Canadians still don't want an election. When the majority of voting Canadians who still care about this country want an election, it'll be made clear like it was in 2005. Nobody cares for it right now because even most of those that are discontent with the current feds aren't that discontent, not even right now. What's an informal but good measure? The first-round of the NHL playoffs spark more interest. There you have it.

Secondly, the official opposition is still battered. While some sense has been seen in recent months like Liberal MP Keith Martin's proposed M-446 (which I strongly support), the rest of the party is out in the woods. It would almost be entertaining if it weren't for their being elected representatives.

Thirdly, there's still enough confidence in Stephen Harper's government. As long as that exists, the Dion-led Liberals are going to keep shooting themselves in their feet to avoid running in an election.

Unless major polling sources all indicate a Liberal lead by ten percent for months on end, there won't be an election. Seriously, there's a better chance of the Boston Celtics losing out to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the NBA playoffs than the Liberals coming back to prominence anytime soon. Just so you know, the Celtics have had a terrific season.
